What to Do at and near the Taj Mahal

Marvel at the Taj Mahal: The main attraction, of course, is the Taj Mahal itself. Marvel at the grandeur of the ivory-white marble, the intricately carved details, and the symmetrical gardens that surround it. Consider visiting during sunrise or sunset for a magical experience.

Explore the Agra Fort: Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is another architectural gem. Explore its courtyards, palaces, and mosques, and enjoy panoramic views of the Taj Mahal from the fort’s walls.

Visit Mehtab Bagh: For a serene view of the Taj Mahal away from the crowds, head to Mehtab Bagh, a garden complex across the Yamuna River. Sunset views from here are particularly enchanting.

Experience Local Cuisine: Savor the flavors of Agra with local delicacies. Try the famed Petha sweets and indulge in Mughlai cuisine. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy a rooftop dinner with a view of the Taj Mahal.

Attend the Mohabbat the Taj Show: For a cultural experience, consider attending the “Mohabbat the Taj” show. This theatrical performance depicts the love story behind the Taj Mahal and includes traditional music and dance.

Recommendations at the Taj Mahal

Book Tickets in Advance: To avoid long lines, especially during peak tourist seasons, consider booking your tickets in advance. This can be done online or at the ticket counters in Agra. Make sure you go during sunrise too.

Respect Cultural Norms: When visiting religious or historical sites, it’s essential to dress modestly. Cover your shoulders and knees out of respect for the local culture.

Stay Hydrated: Agra can get quite hot, especially during the summer months. Carry water, wear sunscreen, and take breaks to stay hydrated during your explorations.

Capture the Moments: Bring a camera to capture the beauty of the Taj Mahal and the surrounding landscapes. Whether you’re an avid photographer or just want to remember the moments, you’ll be grateful for the memories.
